Haiku Poems

1 (Frigid Tears)

Unshed tears frigid
prodding against fluttering,
sweltering eyelids.

2 (Hunger Strikes)

Hunger strikes
open mouths parched
and scorched throats.

3 (Designer Wealth)

Comfort in designer wealth,
blessed in healthy choices,
stabilization for eternity.

4 (Blessed)

Woke up this morning,
breathing at ease.
Thanks a million.

5 (Cleansed Heart)

Bleached heart.
Uncorrupted. Cleansed.
Like new. Rebirth.

6

Baked in happiness,
blessed with love,
rest assured, full glass.

7

Redeemed by touch,
strengthened by love,
encouraged by spoken words.

8

Destined to die a sinner’s death,
given another chance
to live again.

9

Ignorance, an unpleasant aftertaste
Wounded dogs don’t know
any better than their cruel jokes.

10

The music in the background
plays on repeat
your emotions harbored onshore.

11

Torn, like dried leaves
under the shade of a tree
untouched by the wind.

12

Old feelings resurface.
Old habits stay put.
Memories take center stage.

13

Empty words fill
the heart with loneliness.
Sadness and hurt accompany them.

14

Time passes,
on time, every single time.
It does not crawl for you.

15

Lack of importance,
sends the message clearly
of one’s broken promises.

16

Dosed with hurt,
a burning ache to cry,
unsung tears burn like boiling water.

17

Testing self-worthiness
to the brink of madness,
running a crash course.

18

A terrible case
of the broken heartache:
Welcome to Heartbreak Hotel.

19

Over the bumpy road
that is the crossroad
between life and death.

20

Cherish the good and bad
times that tell the story
of your precious life.

21

Stress, the friend,
loves to hold hands,
submerged underwater.

22

Crinkled leaf
fell on the ground,
stomped to pieces.

23

Popsicle heart,
cold from a lifetime of
love with no warmth.

24

A cradle of comfort,
a bed of warm air circulates,
dosed off by the fireplace.

25

Surrounded by
treasures in a house
polished with dirt and filth.

26

Taken by criminals,
sold to the highest bidder.
Human trafficking.

27

Flowers bloom
and blossom then
dies of heat stroke.

28

Burning inside,
hot sores boil,
anger, and frustration.

29

Twisted fate,
took one path,
revisit the past.

30

Stashed away
under cold dirt,
waiting to be found.

31

Brain cells die,
being worked overtime,
turn off the TV.

32

The world lies,
telling tall tales,
the truth they hide.

33

Mind control,
puppets controlled by devices,
blindly led by society.

34

Famine, war, world hunger
all calculated moves
population decreases.

35

God is our only hope
for humanity is lost,
almost unrecognizable.

  2. I love your haikus, Kim. This is one of my favorite types of poetry. I haven’t written a haiku since 2012. I am so inspired by your haikus. I write some new haiku this week. Thank you for the inspiration! ~Tameko
